The Luckiamute Watershed Council (LWC) is seeking an independent contractor to fill our Council Coordinator position. This person will manage the day-to-day affairs of the LWC to ensure that we are meeting the needs of all of our stakeholders, fulfilling the obligations of our existing grants and performing the necessary groundwork to grow and expand as a watershed council. The contract is for a two-year term. The Council Coordinator reports to the LWC Board officers, working closely with the LWC Board members, Outreach Specialist and Project Manager to continue program development, execution and budget compliance to enhance the LWC's capacity and promote their mission.

Job Announcement: District Forester (DEADLINE 08/07/12)
This position functions as the Field Manager (District Forester) for the Capitan District of the Energy Minerals and Natural Resources Department (EMNRD)- Forestry Division. The District is comprised of 8,591,874 acres of private, non-federal and non-municipal lands in Otero, Lincoln, Chaves, DeBaca, Roosevelt, Lea and Eddy counties. The position supervises the implementation of all forestry programs to include the Smokey Bear Historical Park, fire management, forest and watershed health management, timber harvesting regulations, service forestry and all administrative activities on the district. The position participates with other groups and agencies with similar objectives and authorities to allocate resources across jurisdictional boundaries to achieve forest and watershed health and communities that are more defensible from wildland fire and insect and disease epidemics. The position is also responsible for maintaining compliance with governmental standards and business philosophies such as department and division policies, the state procurement code, contract management, supervision and federal codes relating to the delivery of federal programs.

The Institute for Applied Ecology (IAE) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to conserve native species and habitats through restoration, research and education. Our Southwest Program works in New Mexico and Arizona. We cultivate partnerships to facilitate large-scale, regional conservation projects, develop ecologically appropriate sources of native seed, provide native species education opportunities and materials, and conduct on-the-ground habitat restoration and applied research. IAE Southwest Program seeks to hire an Albuquerque-based Ecological Educator that will work with our Santa Fe office education staff to deliver the 2018 Forest Bound summer program (https://appliedeco.org/forest-bound-launches/ ). The Forest Bound program utilizes place-based, interdisciplinary lessons from the native plant curriculum “From Ponderosa to Prickly Pear, Exploring the Native Plants of New Mexico” (https://appliedeco.org/programs/education/about-projectbotany/project-botany-new-mexico/). The goal of Forest Bound is to provide an opportunity for Santa Fe and Albuquerque high school students to learn about careers in natural resources and gain skills in native plant ecology in an experiential learning setting.
