The New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) is advertising for an Geoscientist-Operational position (#00012185) in the Remediation Oversight Section of the Ground Water Quality Bureau. This position is an Geoscientist in the Remediation Oversight Section of the Ground Water Quality Bureau. The section oversees corrective action and remediation at sites with contamination in ground water, soil, or other media. This position provides technical and regulatory oversight of sites enrolled in the Voluntary Remediation Program (VRP) to ensure that remedial activities protect human health and the environment and comply with state and federal assessment/remediation requirements, including the VRP Regulations (20.6.3 NMAC), Ground and Surface Water Protection Regulations (20.6.2 NMAC), and EPA's Brownfields Program. The position also promotes the VRP to potential applicants; provides technical assistance to communities seeking to redevelop brownfield sites; and assists with grant administration and reporting.
The position is a Pay Band 70 with salaries ranging for this position typically $22.74 (midpoint) to $29.10 (max) per hour depending on job duties and experience.
