Coeur d'Alene, Idaho -The Western Governors' Association (WGA) and NOAA (the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) today announced a joint agreement for improving the development and delivery of climate science and services to Western states. In the midst of a record-breaking season for extreme drought, flood, wildfire and severe storms, this timely agreement will increase collaboration and boost existing efforts to ensure Western states and the U.S. Pacific islands are better able to plan for these types of natural hazards. The Luckiamute Watershed Council (LWC) is seeking an independent contractor to fill our Council Coordinator position. This person will manage the day-to-day affairs of the LWC to ensure that we are meeting the needs of all of our stakeholders, fulfilling the obligations of our existing grants and performing the necessary groundwork to grow and expand as a watershed council. The contract is for a two-year term. The Council Coordinator reports to the LWC Board officers, working closely with the LWC Board members, Outreach Specialist and Project Manager to continue program development, execution and budget compliance to enhance the LWC's capacity and promote their mission.

Join expert instructors Van Clothier and Craig Sponhotlz for a Watershed Technical Training in Stream Restoration will provide participants with a basic understanding of how desert streams and arroyos function, how they change over time, and the human influence on them, both positive and negative. Based on this foundation, students will then participate in hands-on sessions in site assessment, design, and implementation of small-scale restoration features. Emphasis will also be placed on urban wash restoration approaches and practices from backyard to larger drainage scales.
