- Galisteo Watershed Conservation Initiative
- The Galisteo Watershed Conservation Initiative (GWCI) is a collaboration between Earth Works Institute (EWI) and the Santa Fe Conservation Trust (SFCT), in partnership with Earth Analytic, Inc. Supporting partners include the National Park Service (Rivers, Trails and Conservation Assistance Program), Santa Fe County (Planning Division), New Mexico Office of the State Engineer (Interstate Stream Commission), and University of New Mexico (Community and Regional Planning Program).
- Governor Susana Martinez Announces Opening of River Stewardship Program Request for Proposals 2014
- Governor Susana Martinez and the New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) announced today that the River Stewardship Program Request for Proposals (RFP) will open in early June, with submission due in mid-July. Proposals will be considered from towns, cities, counties, state agencies, soil and water conservation districts, irrigation districts, and community watershed groups, as well as Indian Nations, Pueblos, and Tribes. Additional groups that work to restore river habitats are also encouraged to apply.

- The Luckiamute Watershed Council (LWC) is seeking an independent contractor to fill our Council Coordinator position. This person will manage the day-to-day affairs of the LWC to ensure that we are meeting the needs of all of our stakeholders, fulfilling the obligations of our existing grants and performing the necessary groundwork to grow and expand as a watershed council. The contract is for a two-year term. The Council Coordinator reports to the LWC Board officers, working closely with the LWC Board members, Outreach Specialist and Project Manager to continue program development, execution and budget compliance to enhance the LWC's capacity and promote their mission.

- Managing Forest Health for Water Resources
- This Western Governors' Drought Forum webinar explored the latest science on forest management practices that may increase water availability and add security to water portfolios. The moderator was Ken Pimlott, California State Forester and Director of CAL FIRE. Panelists included: Alan Hook, Project Manager, Santa Fe Municipal Watershed Management Plan and Water Resources Coordinator, City of Santa Fe; Marcos Robles, Conservation Science Specialist, The Nature Conservancy; Don Boucher, Project Manager, Ashland Forest Resiliency Stewardship Project, United States Forest Service.

- The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) has the Emergency Watershed Protection (EWP) Program available for local sponsors to use to aid in recovery work. NRCS provides technical and financial assistance to install measures that reduce post-flood and fire damage. The measures are intended to reduce threats to life or property, retard runoff, restore capacity of waterways, prevent flooding and/or soil erosion and reduce damage from sediment and debris. The removal of debris deposited by the disaster that is a health or safety hazard can be a part of such measures as well.

- The goal of the MSSC is to effectively foster communication and dialogue on related desalination and salinity management-related policy matters through quarterly meetings, correspondence, and the development, sponsorship and presentation of an annual national desalination and salinity management summit for local, regional, and national leaders. - As wildfires continue to impact the western United States, a new guide has been developed to help those impacted by wildfire in New Mexico start on the path to recovery. New Mexico State Forestry, along with many interagency partners, has created this guide and a companion website called “After Wildfire: A Guide for New Mexico Communities,” according to New Mexico Forest and Watershed Health Office Coordinator Susan Rich, who led the project.
