Be a Watershed Steward - Conserve Energy
Be a Watershed Steward – conserve energy
Because it takes water to produce electricity and to secure other energy sources like oil and gas, conserving energy also conserves water supplies. Here are some conservation tips:
- Turn off lights and fans and adjust thermostats in unoccupied rooms.
- Unplug energy “vampires”, like phone and computer chargers, when not in use.
- Plug up drafts that leak cooled or heated air to the outside: caulk around windows and replace leaky door seals. Include insulation and energy-saving windows in remodeling plans. These tactics will not only save energy, but they’ll save you money on your monthly heating and cooling bills!
- ·Sign up for renewable energy option if your electric company offers one.
- Reduce your fuel consumption for transportation. Take mass transit, or follow fuel efficiency tips on websites like fueleconomy.gov .
- See the water conservation tips on this poster for the parts of the watershed where you live and work.
