Annual Herbfest at Rio Grande Nature Center State Park

Albuquerque, NM – Rio Grande Nature Center State Park will celebrate their annual Herbfest Saturday and Sunday, May 10-11, 2014, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. This fun springtime celebration will benefit educational programming at the park.

“We are so happy to have the support of the Friends of the Rio Grande Nature Center who sponsor this great event,” said Park Superintendent Beth Dillingham.  “We have activities for the whole family and lots of educational programs.” 

Activities for the day include:

  • Herb, wildflower and native plant sale
  • Arts and crafts sale
  • Guided bird and nature walks
  • Garden tours
  • Live music
  • Make-n-take crafts for kids
  • Refreshments
  • Exciting raffle

Programs will also be featured each day with professional biologists and authors:


Saturday Programs

11:00 AM – Winter Birds at the Rio Grande Nature Center, Steve Cox

1:00 PM – New Mexico’s Rio Grande: Fate of a 21st Century River, John Fleck


Sunday Programs

11:00 AM – Creating a Wildlife Habitat, Wes Brittenham

1:00 PM – Moving Toward A Birder Future:  Valle de Oro and the Urban Bird Treaty, Teresa Skiba

 

Join us for this fun and interactive event!  Herbfest is free; day-use parking for non-members of the Friends is $3 per vehicle.
