Sugarite Stewardship Plan
The Sugarite watershed northeast of Raton, New Mexico is the source for most of Raton's drinking water. Colfax County and the City of Raton are interested in reducing the threat of crown fire in the watershed. The County and the City recieved a Collaborative Forest Restoration Program (CFRP) grant in 2006 to prepare a stewardship plan to guide watershed protection and restoration activities in the Sugarite watershed.
Sugarite Cañon Watershed Protection Project Grant
This inter-agency, multi-state collaborative grant was awarded by the US Forest service in 2008 under the State and Private Forestry program.
