The Luckiamute Watershed Council (LWC) is seeking an independent contractor to fill our Council Coordinator position. This person will manage the day-to-day affairs of the LWC to ensure that we are meeting the needs of all of our stakeholders, fulfilling the obligations of our existing grants and performing the necessary groundwork to grow and expand as a watershed council. The contract is for a two-year term. Restoring composition and structure in Southwestern frequent-fire forests: A science-based framework for improving ecosystem resiliency
Ponderosa pine and dry mixed-conifer forests in the Southwest United States are experiencing, or have become increasingly susceptible to, large-scale severe wildfire, insect, and disease episodes resulting in altered plant and animal demographics, reduced productivity and biodiversity, and impaired ecosystem processes and functions. We present a management framework based on a synthesis of science on forest ecology and management, reference conditions, and lessons learned during implementations of our restoration framework. Our framework informs management strategies that can improve the resiliency of frequent-fire forests and facilitate the resumption of characteristic ecosystem processes and functions by restoring the composition, structure, and spatial patterns of vegetation. We believe restoration of key compositional and structural elements on a per-site basis will restore resiliency of frequent-fire forests in the Southwest, and thereby position them to better resist, and adapt to, future disturbances and climates.

Request for Proposals for Hazardous Fuels Mitigation Projects
The New Mexico Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department (EMNRD), Forestry Division (Division) is requesting proposals from governmental entities that are surrounded by hazardous forest fuels that pose a threat in the event of a wildland fire for the planning and implementation of hazardous fuels mitigation projects that will reduce the fire threat in Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) areas in New Mexico. Funding will be awarded through a competitive process administered by the Western Wildland Fire Protection Committee (WWFPC), with emphasis on hazardous fuel reduction, information and education, and community and homeowner action. The Division plans to award multiple contracts as a result of this Request for Proposals (RFP).
BDD Facilities Manager Position
This position provides professional expertise and leadership to manage the state-of-the-art Buckman Direct Diversion (BDD) facilities, co-owned by the City of Santa Fe and Santa Fe County; and is responsible for the production of drinking water that is compliant with applicable local, state and federal regulations, meets the demands of the City of Santa Fe and Santa Fe County, and optimizes facility operations. Must pass the applicable BDD certification in all key areas of competency within one year of hire for continued employment with the BDD.
Request for Quotes: Federal Clean Water Act Section 604 (b) Water Quality Management Planning 2013
Quotes due October 4, 2013. The Surface Water Quality Bureau (Bureau or SWQB) of the New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) requests quotes from regional public comprehensive planning organizations to conduct water quality management planning as defined under sections 205(j) and 303(e) of the Clean Water Act (CWA). These funds are made available through an RFQ as, given the duration and amount of an award, this is the appropriate approach through the State of New Mexico Procurement Code. In response to this RFQ NMED seeks detailed quotes (i.e. proposals) to conduct water quality management planning. While all quotes focused on water quality management planning are welcomed, those which will fund activities that clearly address the State’s water quality goals to preserve, protect and improve the water quality in New Mexico are likely to be rated highest. In this respect NMED encourages quotes focused on Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs), Use Attainability Analysis (UAA) or other water quality management planning activities that will directly address identified water quality impairments but do not overlap with development of watershed based plans that are eligible for funding through NMED’s 319(h) program.
