A new book that examines water management in the chronically water-short Israeli-Palestinian region, and Arizona, which relies significantly on the overallocated Colorado River, as well as on non-renewable groundwater supplies. This volume is predicated on the idea that scientifically-trained experts who are sensitive to sociopolitical conditions can assist in developing and evaluating feasible water management solutions.

Surface Water Quality Bureau Proposes Withdrawal of the Total Maximum Daily Load(TMDL) for Red River

The New Mexico Environment Department’s (NMED) Surface Water Quality Bureau (SWQB) is inviting the public to comment on the draft “total maximum daily load” (TMDL) withdrawal document for the Red River (Rio Grande to Placer Creek). A TMDL is a planning document that establishes specific goals to meet water quality standards in waterbodies where pollutant limits are exceeded. Due to recent changes to the water quality standards and assessment of available data for the 2012-2014 Clean Water Act 303d/305b Integrated List, SWQB proposes to withdraw the 2006 dissolved aluminum TMDL for Red River (Rio Grande to Placer Creek).
