This conference is an annual event to bring together teachers, and other educators from the Colorado Plateau Bioregion, to learn bioregionally focused, place-based, hands on, cross-curricular, outdoor education lessons. Please have your workshop fit within the title of the conference, including diverse cultural knowledge, content knowledge (wind/air, fire, earth, and water), teaching methods, and application of techniques.

RiverXchange is a FREE year-long program focused on communication between classes about water resources in geographically diverse areas, through online partnerships. Our hands-on curriculum explores rivers and their watersheds, storm water, municipal water supplies, ecology, and conservation.

This full-color, fully revised 592-page guide contains 64 multidisciplinary water-related activities for students from Kindergarten through 12th grade. The cornerstone of Project WET is its methodology of teaching about water resources through hands-on, investigative, easy-to-use activities.

The goal of the Urban Waters Small Grants program is to fund research, investigations, experiments, training, surveys, studies, and demonstrations that will advance the restoration of urban waters by improving water quality through activities that also support community revitalization and other local priorities. EPA expects to award approximately up to $1.6 million to support such projects, in grants of $40,000 to $60,000 each. The funding is part of EPA’s Urban Waters program, which supports communities in their efforts to access, improve, and benefit from their urban waters and the surrounding land. http://www2.epa.gov/urbanwaters/urban-waters-small-grants

Registration forms will be available May 9 through May 25, between 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., at the Santa Fe National Forest Headquarters located at 11 Forest Lane in southwest Santa Fe and at the Jemez Ranger Station located at 051 Woodsy Lane in Jemez Springs. Registration forms are also available online at: http://www.fs.fed.us/r3/sfe/jemez_mtn_rest/index.html. All forms, including those received through e-mail, must be mailed and postmarked or hand-carried no later than May 25. By May 31, everyone who was selected to participate in the field trips will be notified by phone or email. Details about the field trips are outlined within the registration form.

The cornerstone of Project WET is its methodology of teaching about water resources through hands-on, investigative, easy-to-use activities. Project WET activities are designed to complement existing curricula rather than displace or add additional concepts. Activities fulfill objectives and educational standards in the sciences, as well as other disciplines, from fine arts to health. Because water is ubiquitous, water-related concepts can be found in almost any field of study. In addition, the Guide has been correlated with the educational standards of most states. Activities within the Project WET Curriculum and Activity Guide are universal in their methods of teaching about water. More than 40 countries in addition to the United States use Project WET Curriculum and Activity Guide activities.
