The Five Star Restoration Grant Program, an initiative from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, supports community-based wetland, riparian and coastal habitat restoration projects throughout the United States. One-year grants from $10,000 to $25,000 and two-year grants from $10,000 to $40,000 will be awarded to projects that build diverse partnerships and foster stewardship through education, outreach and training activities. Projects must include meaningful education through community outreach and/or integration with K-12 environmental curriculum. Partnerships should include at least five organizations (nonprofit organizations, government agencies, educational institutions, businesses, etc.) that contribute to project success through funding, land, workforce support, technical support or other in-kind services. FOREST BOUND is a FREE native plant ecology training program for high school age youth, utilizing the Native Plant Curriculum, From Ponderosa to Prickly Pear, developed by the Institute for Applied Ecology.

The Forest Stewards Guild is seeking an insured and qualified burn boss type two (RXB2) for up to three mobilizations. The contractor will organize and lead a burn crew to implement up to three burns in September and October 2016. Contractor will work as part of a team with Forest Stewards Guild, local land managers and owners, and local volunteer and hired resources. The Forest Stewards Guild is coordinating burn permits, burn equipment, and firefighters from state, local, and NGOs. The Forest Stewards Guild is now accepting bids for three burns scheduled in September and October. Bids will be considered for one, two, or all three burns. The Bureau of Reclamation has made two funding opportunities available to help water users develop drought contingency plans and build long-term drought resiliency as part of Reclamation's Drought Response Program. These opportunities will be allocated through a competitive process. The drought resiliency project funding opportunity is for projects that will increase the reliability of water supply; improve water management; implement systems to facilitate the voluntary sale, transfer, or exchange of water; and provide benefits for fish, wildlife, and the environment to mitigate impacts caused by drought. States, tribes, irrigation districts, water districts, and other organizations with water or power delivery authority are invited to leverage their money and resources by cost sharing with Reclamation. It is available at www.grants.gov by searching for funding opportunity number R16-FOA-DO-006. The drought contingency planning funding opportunity is for applicants to request funding to develop a new drought plan or to update an existing drought plan. Applicants may also request technical assistance from Reclamation for the development of elements of the Drought Contingency Plan. States, Indian tribes, irrigation districts, water districts, and other organizations with water or power delivery authority are eligible for this funding opportunity. It is available at www.grants.gov by searching for funding opportunity number R16-FOA-DO-005. Approximately $6 million will be available for both funding opportunities. Applicants must also provide a 50 percent non-Federal cost-share. Applications are due on April 11, 2016, by 4 p.m. MDT as indicated in the funding opportunities.
