The Riparian Restoration Workshop is being held in Las Cruces, NM, on February 26th.

Whether you are a cattle rancher, small, medium or large scale farmer, this seminar will help you unearth the potential of your land. You’ll learn valuable tools and techniques to help you turn your soil into rich and fertile ground through composting, creating composting tea, and by gaining a better understanding of the basics of soil microbiology.

Despite our name, Tamarisk Coalition’s 12th Annual Conference is not just about tamarisk… Come learn about the latest advancements; from riparian restoration case studies, success stories, regional riparian management initiatives and challenges of funding, planning, and implementing riparian restoration, to exploring novel tools, techniques, and research. Through concurrent sessions, panels, Q&A, and field trips, you will learn new information about wildlife and habitat, biological control, biomass removal/use, native plants, streambank bioengineering, and more.

Join Krys Nystrom of the Wildfire Network, Jan-Willem Jansens of Ecotone Landscape Planning, and Zander Evans of the Forest Stewards Guild for a wildfire home hazard risk assessment training and tour of a woodland restoration project in the Wildland Urban Interface. The training will take place at a private residence and to limit parking issues we will be meeting at 9:45 am the Atalaya Lower Trailhead parking lot off of Camino de Cruz Blanca in the St. John's College parking lot. Canadian River Riparian Restoration Project - Treatment Results and Discussion

Join expert instructors Van Clothier and Craig Sponhotlz for a Watershed Technical Training in Stream Restoration will provide participants with a basic understanding of how desert streams and arroyos function, how they change over time, and the human influence on them, both positive and negative. Based on this foundation, students will then participate in hands-on sessions in site assessment, design, and implementation of small-scale restoration features. Emphasis will also be placed on urban wash restoration approaches and practices from backyard to larger drainage scales.
