The BioBlitz challenges us to find and identify as many species as possible in a specific area over a short period of time.  Scientists, families, students, teachers, and other community members work together to get an overall count of the plants, animals, fungi, and other organisms that live in a place.  In addition, Forest Service personnel will lead interpretive talks on nature, birds, flowers, and insects every hour on the hour while the BioBlitz is underway.

Before arriving, participants are encouraged to download the iNaturalist App on their smart phones and “join” the Cienega BioBlitz 2016 project to record their observations on the day of the event.  A species list will be available on the day of the event for those who do not have a smart phone or tablet.  Please remember to bring a phone, plenty of water and snacks, sun-screen, and a hat.

We look forward to seeing you at the BioBlitz!
