JOINT PUBLIC NOTICE UNDER SECTION 404 OF THE CLEAN WATER ACT FOR SPA-2010-00393-ELP, VADO EAST LEVEE REHABILITATION PROJECT

SUMMARY OF PROPOSED ACTION: The USIBWC is proposing to construct the Vado East Levee Rehabilitation Project for flood control improvements to the Rio Grande Canalization Project (RGCP) in Vado, New Mexico. The project would result in: constructing and enhancing 1.08 miles of levee, shifting and widening the river channel, and causing unavoidable impacts to approximately 2.06 acres of riparian habitat adjacent to the Rio Grande.

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Albuquerque District (Corps) and the New Mexico Environment Department, Surface Water Quality Bureau (NMSWQB) are evaluating a permit application from the United States Section, International Boundary and Water Commission (USIBWC) for the proposed Vado East Levee Rehabilitation Project.  The joint public notice can be found at: http://www.spa.usace.army.mil/Portals/16/docs/civilworks/regulatory/publicnotices/New%20Mexico/PN%20SPA-2010-00393-ELP%20Mar%203%202015.pdf  The Corps, and the NMSWQB request comments on this proposed action. This notice is to inform interested parties of the proposed activity and to solicit comments.
